Understand your water before choosing treatment

Borehole Water Filtration Starts with Laboratory Testing

A borehole provides a water source, but the treatment it needs depends on the water quality and how you intend to use it. Profusion H2O uses laboratory results to plan filtration around the problems identified, rather than recommending the same equipment for every property.

Heinrich designs the treatment system using those results, drawing on more than 15 years of filtration experience. Depending on the findings, the proposed installation may include sediment filtration, treatment for iron and manganese, softening, activated carbon, UV or reverse osmosis. The equipment and treatment stages are selected for the specific requirements of your water.

We also assess how the treatment will fit into your existing setup, including borehole flow, tanks, pumps, available space, electricity supply and backwash drainage. Laboratory results can support an initial filtration estimate, while the property assessment helps confirm the installation requirements. Storage and pumping are considered separately from the filtration equipment.

How Borehole Filtration Works

Treatment Starts with Understanding Your Water

Borehole water varies from one property to another. Profusion H2O uses laboratory results and your intended water use to plan treatment, rather than choosing the same filter arrangement for every supply.

  1. Test the Source Water

Laboratory testing identifies the water-quality issues that need attention. Share existing results if you have them, along with details of how you want to use the water.

  2. Select the Treatment

Heinrich uses the results to select suitable treatment equipment and media. Your proposed system may combine several stages, depending on the problems identified.

  3. Install, Commission & Maintain

The agreed equipment is connected to your water infrastructure and commissioned. Ongoing servicing and appropriate follow-up testing help you monitor the system over time.

Clear Water Does Not Tell the Whole Story

Appearance alone cannot confirm suitability for drinking. Installing treatment equipment is not, by itself, proof of drinking-water compliance. Discuss the testing needed for your intended use.

Start with your water source, test results and intended use.

Test the water before choosing the treatment.

A system that suits another borehole may not suit yours. Laboratory results help identify what needs treatment and guide the equipment selected for your intended use.

Choosing Your Treatment

Which Borehole Filtration System Does Your Property Need?

Borehole filtration should be selected around your water quality, intended use and existing infrastructure. Heinrich uses laboratory results and a property assessment to recommend a suitable treatment arrangement.

Your Laboratory Water Results

The report helps identify treatment needs such as sediment, iron, manganese or hardness. If you already have results, share the complete report and its date so Heinrich can review the information available.

How You Intend to Use the Water

Explain whether you want water for irrigation, toilets, general household use or drinking. The intended use guides treatment and the testing needed to verify the resulting water quality.

Water Demand & Existing Equipment

Borehole flow, storage tanks, pump performance and the amount of water required all influence the proposed system. Existing equipment is assessed to establish what can be used and what is needed.

Installation Space & Servicing Access

Treatment vessels and filters need suitable space and access for maintenance. Electrical supply, pipe routes and backwash drainage are considered when planning the installation.

Your Borehole Filtration Installation

What Your Borehole Treatment System May Include

Your laboratory results guide the treatment stages selected for your borehole water. Depending on the findings and intended use, your installation may combine several of the components below. The final equipment and scope are set out in your quotation.

Sediment

Multimedia & Sediment Filtration

Where sediment and turbidity are treatment concerns, the proposed system may include a backwashing multimedia vessel and cartridge filters. Equipment and media are selected around the results and required water flow.

Water Chemistry

Iron & Manganese Treatment

If laboratory testing identifies iron or manganese concerns, suitable treatment stages can be specified. The choice of media and equipment depends on the measured levels and the wider water chemistry.

Hardness

Water Softener & Brine Tank

Where hardness treatment is required, a softener and brine tank may form part of the installation. Salt requirements and ongoing maintenance should be explained alongside the proposed equipment.

Taste & Odour

Activated Carbon Treatment

An activated carbon vessel may be selected where appropriate for the identified treatment needs. It forms part of the overall system, with media replacement requirements considered during planning.

Disinfection

UV Treatment Where Appropriate

A UV unit may be included as part of the treatment arrangement. Selection considers the water quality, upstream filtration and flow. Equipment installation alone does not confirm drinking-water compliance.

Infrastructure

Storage, Pumping & Connections

Tanks, pumps, pipe routes and backwash drainage are assessed alongside the filters. Existing infrastructure may be suitable, while any new equipment or alterations are identified in the quote.

Know What Your Filtration Quote Covers

Confirm the recommended treatment stages, installation work and maintenance requirements. Pumps and storage tanks are quoted separately from filtration. Laboratory testing and assessment travel are also separate charges, to be confirmed before booking.

Frequently Asked Questions

Your Borehole Filtration Questions Answered

Find answers about laboratory testing, treatment selection, installation budgets and the ongoing care of your borehole filtration system.

Is borehole water automatically safe to drink?

No. The source or appearance of the water does not establish its suitability for drinking. Laboratory testing is needed to identify treatment requirements.

Installing filtration equipment alone does not confirm drinking-water compliance. Discuss the verification testing needed for your intended use.

Do I need a laboratory test before choosing filtration?

Yes. Heinrich uses laboratory results to select suitable treatment equipment and media. The recommendation also considers how you want to use the water and the infrastructure already installed.

If you have an existing report, send the complete results and test date for review. Additional or updated testing may be needed.

What borehole water problems can you assess?

Profusion H2O can assess treatment requirements for sediment, sand, iron, manganese, hardness, taste, odour and microbial concerns. Laboratory results determine which treatment stages are appropriate.
